On June 12^th, 2023 Mr. Seok Mo Yoon, representing Woori Bank of Republic of Korea, and Mr. Hong Ju Kim, the CEO of Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc.​ were honored to join the inauguration ceremony of a new building in Tang Krasang Health Care Center, under the high presidency of His Excellency Chea Chanto, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, which is located in Tang Krasang Village, Tang Krasang commune, Santuk district, Kampong Thom province. This new building, partially contributed by Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc., would help improve healthcare services to the people in the district of Santuk and its surrounding areas.

On February 27, 2023, Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc. and VERYWORDS have signed a MOU to provide charging stations to make more convenience on battery charging​ of VERYWORDS’S E-Mobility at the Woori Bank‘s branches.

E-Mobility is critical in bringing clean energy to the world of transportation. It electrifies vehicles by fuel substitution with electricity as the source of power for motor vehicles. E-Mobility is not only cost-effective, but it is also environmentally friendly.

The event was presided over by Mr. Kim Hong Ju, Chief Executive Officer of Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc. and Mr. Kim Sung Woo, the representative from VERYWORDS, and participated by senior management and staff of both parties. The celebration was hosted at Woori Bank (Cambodia)’s Head Office in Phnom Penh.

During the sharing speech session, CEO of Woori Bank (Cambodia), Mr. Kim Hong Ju stated, “Woori Bank (Cambodia) has always worked to find financial solutions that could meet the needs of the Cambodian people under the slogan ‘grow together with Cambodians’. Within the framework of a MOU with VERYWORDS, Woori Bank (Cambodia) is pleased to provide a charging facility to make E-mobility more convenient. Woori Bank and VERYWORDS will also continue to collaborate on future services”.

“This MOU aims to support ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) frameworks to respond to the Global Warming Crisis. We hope that this collaboration will be able to provide better support for Cambodia’s environment and society. At the same time, Woori Bank (Cambodia) will keep healthily and sustainably growing with Cambodians,” Mr CEO continued.

“We work on building an ecosystem of electric vehicles in which all Cambodians can actively participate in response to climate change,” CEO of VERYWORDS, Mr. Kim Sung Woo stated. With the collaboration of Woori Bank (Cambodia), there will be more charger infrastructure for Cambodia, beginning in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. Moreover, VERYWORDS is establishing “Carbon Neutral Culture” platform which allows Cambodia people to actively participate alongside with us. And It’s such a pleasure that Woori Bank (Cambodia) will be a part of this frameworks with us”.

According to UNDP Cambodia, the Cambodia government has embedded Electric Vehicles (EV) into the country’s national transportation policy, with a focus on cities. Cities, with their rapid urbanization, provide the ideal environment for EVs, with paved roads, dependable sources of electricity, and an increasing number of charging stations. Cambodia’s Long-Term Carbon Neutrality Strategy, submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) last December, includes a pledge to have 40% of EV cars and urban buses and 70% of electric motorbikes by 2050.

Phnom Penh: On 4^th February 2023, Woori bank Cambodia celebrated business strategy conference 2023 at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra. The event’s purpose was to summarize and honor 2022’s achievements while also strengthen new year strategies and goals to become Cambodia’s top bank with Fastest, the most Convenient, and Innovative bank.

The event was presided by Mr. Hong Ju Kim, Chief Executive Officers and delegates and attended by Senior Managements, Regional and Branch managers as well as best performance awardees from nationwide offices of Woori Bank Cambodia.

           

More than Gala Dinner party celebrations, best performance departments, regional and branch offices as well as individual staffs were honor awarded by Mr. CEO and senior management for their hard contributions to the bank achievements during 2022.

Phnom Pen: On 10th January 2023, RUPP and Woori Bank​ has singed memorandum of understanding (MOU) in providing 100 scholarships equivalent to US$50,000/year to  undergraduate students from key specialized subjects which include the newly established program on sustainable urban planning and development (DSUPD), Economic Development (Eds), Community Development (CDs), Computer Science, International Business Management (IBM), and Mathematics.

The event was presided by HE. Dr. Chet Chealy, Rector of Royal University of Phnom Penh and Delegates as well as professors, lecturers, faculty members, and students and Mr. Kim Hong Ju, Chief Executive Officer of Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc. and senior management team.

Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc. see the importance of education as the backbone to contribute to the development of Cambodia. The bank’s goal is to grow with Cambodia; therefore, supporting Cambodian education is part of the bank’s CSR program.

During opening the ceremony, Mr, Kim Hong Ju Said “Being faithful to our motto, we are actively conducting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in a variety of fields such as schools, hospitals, and orphanages. Speaking to the press conference, H.E Rector Chet Chealy, has briefly provided history of the university effort in achieving its goals to become a comprehensive and vital Cambodian university. In the past five years, the number of students enrolling has steadily increased. RUPP attempts to address the issues of knowledge gaps and skills mismatches in the country, but also to build strong human capital in achieving long term sustainable development of the country.

“Our vision toward 2030 is to be the Cambodia’s flagship university with regional standing in teaching and learning, research and innovation and social engagement. To achieve these, we have set up five goals which include (i) enhance teaching and learning, (ii) promote research and innovation, (iii) development well-rounded citizenship and effective leadership, (iv) promote sustainable development and preserve Cambodia cultural and natural heritage and (v) to expand social engagement”, Rector continued.

The event marks the beginning of the long-term cooperation between Woori Bank and RUPP in achieving their mutual goals for the sustainable growth for Cambodia.

Phnom Penh: On October 07, 2022, Woori Bank ​and University of Puthisastra have signed memorandum of understanding for three years with​​​ a mutual goal to providing a chance to students with good job opportunities and internship opportunities based on the vision of the university and to supporting our business growth with human resources. This collaboration will reinforce fresh graduation students with real job practice according to their skills and the job market requirements.

The celebrations was presided by Mr. Ku Kwang Hui, Chief Financial Officer of Woori Bank (Cambodia) Plc. and Mr. Ian Findlay, President and Vice-Chancellor of University of Puthisastra.

The MOU will strengthen efforts to join and support Woori Bank’s campus programs, such as internships, Woori Bank Brand Ambassador, and Woori Bank Talent Incubation. Moreover, this collaboration will provide students, particularly ICT students from the University of Puthisastra with personal development, career growth, and the opportunity to strengthen their skills.  “The 21st century will present new and unknown challenges and opportunities. Our vision for continued excellence is to enhance student’s skill and maximize their capacity by giving them an opportunity to join and be a part of our growth with their selected major. Thus, the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding and Exchange Agreement in between us today symbolizes a partnership which we believe will lead to many new joint in maximize human capital and value for both, WBC and UP, in the years ahead” said Mr. Ku Kwang Hui.

In addition to giving a speech on this special occasion, Professor Ian Finday, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Puthisastra, also expressed his thoughts on this collaboration arrangement. According to Professor Ian, Woori is a financial institution that excels in technology, and University of Puthisastra has been recognized for excellence in health science and technology for more than ten years. He emphasized that we both have the same vision on how to support the growth of human capital as a component of the government framework for Cambodia’s digital economy. Professor Ian is convinced that by entering into this agreement, both parties will cooperate to further the development of Cambodia as a nation.

Phnom Penh: On October 19, 2022, Woori Bank collaborated with the National Blood Transfusion Center to organize a voluntary blood donation Event under the theme “Blood Donation’s Day to Save Life” at Woori Bank head office located along Preah Monivong Blvd, Sangkat Boeung Keng Kang I, Khan Boeung Keng Kang, Phnom Penh.

The event was presided over by Dr. Ly Sovit, Vice President of the National Blood Transfusion Center, as well as colleagues and Mr. Hun Sopheak, Chief Operating Officer, Business Group 1, Managements and 60 staffs of Woori Bank.

Dr. Ly Sovit expressed his pleasure at witnessing that Woori Bank’s employees enthusiastically volunteer to give blood at our center. He stated that the blood donation program placed on by Woori Bank today is a significant topic for all of us and has two main objectives. First, to cultivate volunteer blood donation habits and culture and to motivate the general public to take part in activities with the National Blood Transfusion Service across the nation to ensure a sufficient blood supply for patients in need of blood in all hospitals without discrimination or racism, as well as without regard to religion; and Second, to link voluntarily donating blood to beneficial humanitarian efforts in society.
